Theme of the Day: Global economic stress reflected in industrial commodities

Gold at the top of the annual performance dashboard and crude oil on the bottom indicates global economic stress. It's not a good sign for the global economy that the Bloomberg Industrial Metals Spot Subindex is about flat year over year to 28 Aug, despite the S&P 500's almost 20% total return and a 2% drop in the Bloomberg USD Spot Index.
